A Story For All To Read

A story! Just what people do when it is wet and cold and they are bored. READ! So read this story and tell me what you think of it. I can change it if you think I could improve.

"Hey look over there!" Ashleigh Jickle called softly to her brother Adam. Ashleigh (Ash) Jickle was only daughter of the owners of a horse training farm. ash considered herself to be very lucky living there, as she was allowed to excersise the young horse that would, one day, be famous race horses. Her mother (Jessica {Jess}) and her father (Jeremy {J.J}) though thought themself rather unlucky as they didn't not get much profit for excersising horses. "Mummy darling," Ash called ignoring her brothers pleas to tell him what she had saw, "Mum,MUM, I think one of our horses is out!" Jess appeared from behind the barn where she had been grooming Sweety the shetland, Adams little pony. "WHAT!" she asked "I couldn't hear you" Ash sighed. "I... T...H...I...N...K 1... O...F... O...U...R... H...O...R...S...E...S... I...S... O...U...T...!" Jess put the letter together in her mind."OH" She said "Well where?" Ash pointed. "Up there near North Crested Mountain" Jess suddenly slapped Ash, gently, on the head. "How the heck do you know that is one of ours?" Ash walked up to Caberat (her grey horse) and mounted. "Ma, most horses around here are branded"

J.J was enjoying a nice walk down the lane when he spotted something up near North Crested Mountain. 'A horse' he thought. 'A branded horse!'. His mount, Flaming Prince the thoroughbred, was getting restless after standing for 10 minutes. "Come on then Boy" J.J told him and gave him his head. PEOWNG. Off they went galloping down the lane towards their cottage, 'Checkered Princess'.
At the racing practise track Ash and J.J nearly collided. "Yikes" Ash cried "I was just going to try to find you..." "A horse up at.." J.J popped in "North Crested Mountain..Oh you saw it as well!" Ash finished "Yea" J.J grinned down at her. "I was coming to ask you if you wanted to go and see if it is the mythical 'Stormy the White Brumby'!" Ash started to sulk and pout as her father tried to make her turn to get some food. " No now. Come on Daddy" she cried impatiently "Lets go and see" and with that she pushed Caberat into a gallop and made Flaming Prince follow.

"So what was it?" Jess asked at the kitchen table. J.J and Ash had gone to North Crested Mountain to try and catch the 'Thing' but it spooked and turned, then fled. "A horse. Definetly a horse!" Ash said confidentely. J.J just shrugged. 'Could 'a been anything. Just happened though to look on the ground did 'ya Ash? Saw the hoof prints did 'ya?". Ash sparked up. "NO I didn't but I am going there right after breakfast tommorow. I will get that horse and proof to you it is a horse don't you worry about that!"
Ash fell asleep at 9:30 so that she would be up early. She set her alarm for 6:30 and hoped it wouldn't make anyone else up.
At 7:00 that morning Ash was ready. she had food in her blue and red backpack, 4 carrots for Caberat, and plently of film in her camera so that she could take pictures.
Then she tacked up Caberat and left.
Halfway up the mountain Ash spotted the horse. She whipped out her camera and quickly opened her lens to take a picture. Just as she was about to snap it saw her. Up it reared. 'SNAP' went the camera. the horse went mad and started to bolt. So did Caberat. "Whoa there boy" Ash cooded bouncing around all over the place. Finally Ash had Cabeart under control. She pulled him around and went to check the prints left on the ground. 'Yep' Ash thought proudly, 'Yep it was a horse.' Then she snapped pictures of the prints incase the other photo didn't work. Soon she was on her way home.
"ASH" somebody was calling her, "ASH" "Uh YEA I am near the track!" At once a rider appeared. It was Adam. "Ash please thinkl about this OK. I want to come with you, I want to help you find the horse!" Ash was filled with cold horror. 'Oh god he really wants to go with me. But I
already have been there' Finally she answered, "Adam, I have been already. You can't go with me cause I have been already" She now awaited the scream, the punishment, the guilt of leaving her brother behind. But instead all he said was "Oh" and turned to run away and cry. "Oh Adam" Ash cried and chased him. She corned him at the barn and told him that he could ride Sweety tommorow and she, Ash Jickle, would school him. Adams eyes lit up. he had always begged for a lesson. "Well..ah..hmm.. let me think about it" and Adam walked away. Ash didn't know that of course Adam would take it, he was just keeping her in suspense. 'Aw Adam come and tell me now pretty please with the cherry on top!" Adam walked but with a straight face. "A deal" He said with a brisk nod of his head. Then he said, "Come on lets go for a ride. No good brooding about the horse. too tell the truth I went up there this morning as well but a lot earlier. I saw it and I know whos horse it is." Ash felt like strangling him. "WHO" She said clenching her fists. "Well the brand looks like this >>>

Ash stared at the logo in Adam's hands. 'Er..The Mcalsters?" Ash guessed wildly. "ASH don't be stupid! Look carefully, think about racing....." Adam hinted. ash stared at the sign. She knew that she had seen it somewhere. "The..Yes..the Daily Racing Form...Mike Griffen's racing horses! Thats the sign on the side of the float!" Adam yippied. "Yippee. You finally grasped. I have already phoned too" Ash had grabbed the white pages from the barn and was flicking through. "Ah..did you mention my name?" Adam laughed. "Yes Of course it was you who found her." Ash looked as if she was thinking hard. 'ash what are you thinking?" Adam asked. "Lets go up there now and se her!" Ash answered excitedly but Adam shook his head. "No Can Do!" He said "Mikes been and gone. Cause you weren't there he invited us to lunch at 'The Horse Star' in town to talk to us. "Great" Ash was going dreamy. She started to think ahead.........................................

                                                     EPILOGE:
Ash and Adam were visited by Mike. He was shown around the farm while Ash and Adam was at school then, when they came home, was shown Caberat, Appie and her foal Starry Night, and her fathers mount Flaming Prince. Ash also showed Mike his horse. the one that had roamed wild for a while then the Jickles had caught and stabled. he had said that the horses name was Checkered Princess and that she was a very important broodmare. So now if you here anyone in the horse trading market that are talking about Ash and Adam you know who they are.
